LadyHawk- My Delirium

I like this establishing shot as i really like the over lap effect of having three version of the singer in the same shot. I also like the way the shot stars by flashing in to shot mixed with the opening scene. The way it pans out allowing the audience to see the whole room with the other visions is all really effective.

I really like the way the video introduces the premise of the video by having a panning close up of a painting with the girl walking from it, then with a pull back and pan up to the other painting, then a cut to the scene inside it.

I really like this shot as it starts with a long shot of the car in the distance, then it speeds up to a middle shot and the camera follows the car it as it drives.

I really like the way this shot's transitions back to the hotel room again. It starts by having a shot of the scenery then a pull back to an over the shoulder shot from inside the car, then having a wipe out of the colours. Then it goes to just having the out line of the car, to then cutting to back inside the hotel room.

The transition to back to the painting part of the video is really good, as it goes from a birds eye view of the suit case on the bed to a pan out and the effects slowly change it into the water colour effects again.

I really love these effects used to have the musical bridge of the video. i really like how there are flashes of different colours of cloudy water colours effects.

Marina and the Diamond- I am Not a Robot

I like how there is a pause before the music comes in the begging, starting out of focus before shifting into it. The shimmering glitter adds intrigue to the shot before you can clearly make it out, and the whole set up is very atmospheric.

The way it cuts from different shots and distances if very effective and adds to the epic atmosphere created by simple props and makeup.

I like this sweeping motion that introduces a new theme and scene in the video. The wind effect adds more epicness.
The back lighting in this shot is really nice as it just highlights some of her features and creates a lovely silhouette effect.

I love the shadowy effect caused by the lighting on this close up. I also like the clear focus used. The angle highlights her clear lip syncing as well.

Some parts have been sped up which fits in well with the music tempo and it makes the effects from wind machine, like her billowing hair, even more effective.
I like how this shot works with the beat of the music, working in time with it. I also love the extreme close up of the eyes closing, which i think its really nice.
i like the slow pan of the close up, that adds to the sweeping epic feel of the video and fits with the mood of the song. I also like the plain background creating a nice effect with her out of focus hair.

This video was really simply created but work really well but having lots of different settings and a multitude of makeup and themes.

Ellie Goulding- Guns and Horses

I really like all these establishing shots of close ups of nature like the grass or the trees. I would like to include some of these in my own video as i think it is an effective way of setting the seen in an aesthetically pleasing way.

This long panning shot is really nice as it is a good way to introduce the singer and the setting of the video. I also like the way it pans in to a close up by the end of the shot. Her outfit she is wearing here is pretty typical of a girl her age and not particularly anything special so goes well with her laid back style of her music.

I love the use of a smoke machine in this video as it creates a eerie effect, complimenting the costume the dancers are wearing of the old military uniforms. The panning in this video helps create the eerie effect by traveling across from behind the tree while the dancer remains in a frozen pose.

I like this shot of the closeup of the dancer on the floor as you can still see the undergrowth in the floor, framing her. The cut between the shots so that her eyes go from being closed to open works really nicely as well.
The singer is in the same shot as the dancers but does not get involved in the complex dance routine and just does her own thing in the for ground. This along with the outfit separates her from the others, showing that she is the main focus of the video.
These shot of the dancers with a background of a curtain/ flag is a good way to break up the video from just being in the forest. It is also a nice motif that runs through the video, appearing in other scenes.

I like how this shot is filmed through the trees so you can see the foliage in the corners of the shot out of focus. The use of the long shot allows the audience to see the surroundings and the smokey background.

i really like this tableaux shot at the end with the assembled cast of dancers.

Placebo- Pure Morning

This is the music video for Placebo- Pure Morning. This video has more of a structured story line than any of the others i have looked at before. The location of the video in a city for the singers apparent suicide goes well with the depressing lyrics of the song.
I loves the multiple establishing shots for each of the scenes and the abstract nature of the close ups is really effective and sets the surreal mood. I also really like the backwards 'placebo' sign written on the door in the first shot, fitting in well with the strange feel of the video.

I love how this video is all in slightly slow motion, making it seem as though were in a dream. His hair blowing in the wind is also effective and ethereal. This angle works really well as he turns his head up to be more in the shot.

I like the pull focus in this shot which adds to the chaos bellow.

This shot is really nice as it if from the point of view of the news reporter's camera, adding an other layer to the video and the realism to it. The realism of this is slight discordant with the rest of the dream like video.

I really like how the buildings in front of him are out of focus in this shot, making the audience focus on the character. His simple black clothing contrasts well to his pale skin and fits in with the colours of the video.
I really like this long panning shot over the building, panning over him from birds eye view, to the see the street below, showing how high up he is. I think this is a really powerful angle and shot.

I really like this shot as this is the first time you get a clear shot of his face from straight on. He is also lip syncing slightly to the song for the first time as well.

I really like this extreme close up of this clenched hand, as it shows the build up of tension in the video.
This being shot from the perspective of just behind the singer makes the act of jumping seem more personal to the audience. I also like how you can see the ambulance in the same shot on the street bellow.

I really like the angle of this shot, having the building up right, while the singer walks down it. The effects used here as quite impressive as well.

I like how the the video ends with a shot of the police tape, linking back to the beginning of the video.

Lissie- When I'm Alone

This is the music video of Lissie- When I'm alone. I really like the way the video starts with a 20 second or so acoustic version of the song. It works well with the theme of the video and is an effective way to introduce the song. I would like to try this technique in my video.

I really like the abstract shots of the grass blowing in the wind and they flow well with the movement of her walking. These shots of the grass helps to work as establishing shots for the video and insinuates the genre of the video. The camera travels through the grass so that you get this nice effect of the grass brushing over the camera out of focus. The different levels of height that camera uses adds nice variety to the shots.
I really liked this shot from the perspective of being in the car and I think its a cleaver technique. The camera travels with the car creating a nice moving effect. The light coming over the horizon is an impressive shot and I really like how it reflects of the metal of the car and also the shadow cast by the wing mirror is really eye catching.

I really like the movement caused by the wheels turning in this close up. I like how the scenery is reflected in the car. continuing the colours of the sky and ground into the shot.
This shot is almost completely out of focus, the only aspect of the shot is the very centre of it but this create a nice distorted effect to the shot.
The setting for this scene is really effective visually as the light streaming into the room creates a nice illuminating impression.
I love the compilation of this shot, of the suit cases on the car. The mis-match of different sizes creates an interesting visual and the rich colours compliment the background well.

The camera is being filmed from the perspective of the car, which creates a nice bumpy effect of the car's movements. The dark colours of the road work well with the darkening light of the sunset.

I really like the refection here of the flowers in the car. The soft colours of the horizon compliments the other colours well.
I like the smokey effect over this close up that creates a hazy effect. The outfits the singer wears in this video are very casual, wear jeans and a t-shirt or a plain dress. This works well with the genre of her music and her style.
I like the movement of the sheet in this video, obscuring half the shot and covering her at then end.
